The mission of FXB is to fight poverty and AIDS and to support the world’s orphans and vulnerable children left in the wake of the pandemic. FXB offers comprehensive support to families and communities that care for these children, and advocates for their needs and fundamental rights.
FXB’s core model is an innovative “Village Network” program, which is a low cost, sustainable, community based project proven successful in helping families respond more effectively to poverty and the impact of HIV/AIDS on them and their children. The program provides a comprehensive package of services including education, vocational training, medical support, psychosocial counselling, and most importantly, investment and training of income-generating activities. Recent research validates the impact of our Village Network model — 86% of families escape poverty and their general well being is significantly improved.
THE POSITION
With the arrival of a new CEO earlier this year, FXB International has relocated its headquarters to New York City and has embarked upon an ambitious plan to rapidly scale up its programs and impact. As part of this plan, FXB International (www.fxb.org) is looking for an energetic self-starter to join its dynamic New York team as the Director of Resource Development. The Director of Resource Development will drive FXB’s fundraising portfolio at this exciting time in FXB’s history.
The successful candidate will manage FXB’s fundraising efforts in the United States, as well as partner with the CEO in supporting our programs in 10 developing countries to increase their fundraising results. FXB maintains a related office in Europe, based in Geneva, which also participates in fundraising activities for the organization. The Director of Resource Development will be expected to collaborate with the Geneva office for overall development success.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with the CEO and Board members to ensure that all activities of the organization are effective in promoting FXB’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities and attracting a wide range of new donors.
• Create and manage an annual development plan which significantly increases our revenue streams.
• Work with the CEO and Board members to target relevant high-net worth individuals and facilitates the relationship from introduction to the “ask” and closure.
• Secure financial support from and continue to develop long-term relationships with institutional donors, including foundations, corporations, and government sources
• Collaborate with our country program leadership to develop and implement country-specific development plans, with occasional travel to these areas.
• Create dynamic and compelling proposals for the organization
• Recommend, establish and maintain information systems for the fundraising function to track:
o Donation data entry
o Gift processing
o Extensive relationship networks.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Approximately eight years of experience in the nonprofit and/or private sector; demonstrated success in managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources.
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
• Measured experience in having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
• Proven experience with individual and foundation donors required; experience with large donors such as USAID or DFID a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long- term relationships.
• Ability to work both independently and collegially with a small, entrepreneurial team.
• Experience working across cultures, demonstrated interest in rural poverty and a passion for FXB’s mission.
• Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• French language skills a plus.
