3 March 2010 | FXB Moves to Address the Needs of Mudslide Survivors in Uganda
As you may know, a series of dangerous mudslides has wreaked havoc in Eastern Uganda this past week. At least 95 people have been killed, and the search for the missing buried among the debris continues. In addition, more than 200,000 people will need to be relocated. With unusual rain patterns continuing, it will be unsafe for residents to return to the area and other hillside communities for some time.
Although the mudslides have not directly affected beneficiaries of our programs in Uganda, FXB is still committed to helping the families who have been displaced. FXB Uganda is partnering with other local NGOs and the Red Cross of Uganda to provide food and clothing to several hundred families near Bududa in Eastern Uganda who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
FXB is seeking to raise $5,000 to support this effort, and we would appreciate your help.
